Introducing Colin
Colin, as an Investment Manager at Parmenion, adds breadth and depth to the Becketts IMC, courtesy of his experience from working in a variety of financial risk and analytical roles. His knowledge and professional acumen support Becketts’ solution management, which, combined with his broad risk analysis capabilities assists in the ongoing management and monitoring of Becketts’ investment solutions.
Colin has a degree in Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics and a Masters in Mathematics and Computing for Finance from Cardiff University and Swansea University respectively. He started his career at pensions consultancy Quantum Advisory, before moving into numerous roles across risk analytics, trading, and investment consultancy until joining Parmenion in 2020.
What do you like most about your job?
The world impacts investments, and investments impact the world. So it is endlessly interesting for me – on any given day there are events that will impact markets and we have to stay on our toes to ensure we are positioned for good outcomes.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever spent your money on?
A coat from Burton’s lasted me about 18 years. Some would argue I should have replaced it sooner, but if something is doing its job well I see no reason to discard and replace. My wallet currently hangs by threads.
What’s your super power?
Perhaps foresight, or at least what seems like it. I don’t think it’s a gift, it’s achieved through planning, preparation, and paying attention. But it can be difficult to navigate an early prediction, even if it eventually comes good.
Surprise us, something we don’t know about you?
I’ve lived in around 20 different properties with over 50 different people (I’ve lost track!) – I’m less nomadic in my old age now.
