Team News – April 2023

Although we were shortlisted as a finalist at the Red Rose Awards for Professional Services Firm of the Year, we were unfortunately not chosen as winners. Looking at the positives from such an experience, with them being multi-industry awards, we retain that we must be doing something right if we’re being listed as finalists (two years running) when compared to fellow professional Lancastrians.

As we keep looking ahead, we are excited to be named as finalists in the Adviser Firm of the Year category for the North-West at the upcoming Professional Adviser Awards in London at the end of April. Ben and Mark will be heading down to London to represent Becketts, so we wish for their luggage to be a little heavier on their return!

Back at Beckett House, we are diligently preparing for one of the FCA’s latest initiatives, Consumer Duty, to evidence how we deliver fair outcomes for clients and provide value for money. As a firm, we already believe we are already providing, however we also now need to put it to paper and show evidence as to why. It’s an ideal opportunity for us as a team of planners and admin staff to reflect on the quality of service we deliver to all our fantastic clients – which is an exciting endeavour.

We will be talking about Consumer Duty a little bit more via social media and on our blog in the coming months. With the overarching aim of Consumer Duty being “delivering fair value to clients” – every aspect is focused on us continuing to deliver fair outcomes for all our clients

We have also partnered with a leading compliance organisation to undertake an audit across all areas of our business – the deepest of deep dives into our services, regulatory adherence, policies, contingencies and processes.

In conjunction with the introduction of the Consumer Duty initiative, these two exercises will push us into the emerging next level of best practice for financial planning and wealth management firms.

We are excited for our Kaizen journey of continuous improvement to further our business in these areas for the benefit and wellbeing of all our clients – that is all you need to concern yourself with!

As ever, we are continually grateful for anyone who wishes to leave us a Google review – please do. They are hugely appreciated by all the team here. Our target is 100 Google reviews, please help us get there!

If you don’t have a Google address, your feedback about how we do business with you is still welcome via the usual channels.
