Team News – April 2022

The springtime at Becketts has seen Beckett House burst into life, or as we know it – awards season. We have currently made the shortlist for the following regional and national awards we will be represented at in the coming months:

  • Professional Adviser Awards – Firm of the Year (North-West)
  • Red Rose Awards – Small Business
  • Red Rose Awards – Professional Services

Since February, we have also retained our position in the New Model Adviser Top 100 firms nationally, as part of which we were shortlisted as a Top 5 “Firm of the North”.

We thrilled every time we are recognised at regional and national level – as each time it reinforces our commitment to excellence in all areas. It also means it’s no fluke if an array of awards judges are equally impressed with what we do!

In our commitment to continuous learning, we have had our head in the textbooks recently as five of the team all sat exams across March and April. Ben and Mark both passed the AF5 Chartered exam – congratulations to them! They now only a handful of credits away from acquiring their own Chartered status as financial planners.

Meanwhile, Dom and James have results due imminently on their own Masters level exam sat in March. Caroline was unfortunately one mark away from a pass in her first attempt at a Diploma-level exam – the thinnest of margins – we know she’ll crack it next time!

Our partnership with Vincents Solicitors saw us shoot a handful of explainer videos led by their Director for Private Clients, Lisa Lodge. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been rolling these videos out on social media – with the full playlist now available on YouTube. They’re brilliant if you want clarity on the primary “life documents” you may wish to hold – creating a Will, the benefits of creating Lasting Powers of Attorney, to explainers on estate planning and probate.

In March we welcomed Oliver Hunt from Millfield School on a two-week work experience. Oliver – in Year 10 – supported the team’s administration, learnt about our fund analysis software as well as wrote a guide on student finance for university-goers. We hope he enjoyed his first look into not only the industry but office life itself.

If you have a young person looking for work experience as part of their school programme, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break and here’s to a sunny summer.
