It’s been a busy Autumn so far for Becketts as we attended two awards evenings, had a director make the longlist for Chartered Financial Planner of the Year, as well as retaining our own status as a Chartered firm!
Firstly, if you’re here for investment news – please check out the latest summary video from our in-house Investment Management Committee (IMC), with Dominic McLoughney and Doug McCance outlining the implications the latest market news has on the Becketts portfolios.
Moving onto the awards night, we were finalists in the BiBAs – one of Lancashire’s premier multi-industry awards ran by the hosted by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. We weren’t too sure what to expect being our debut at these awards, but the Blackpool Tower ballroom was looking splendid, and we thought we had a decent chance on our home turf!
Unfortunately, we were pipped to the post in winning our category – Family Business of the Year – however, we did gain the highest marks in one section of the judges’ scoring, so we’ve decided to place ourselves in the top three (and possibly second!).
We were also finalists as “Next Generation Advice Firm of the Year” at the Money Marketing Awards – one of the country’s leading magazines in the financial planning sector. Unfortunately, we didn’t scoop the prize here either! However, similar to the BiBAs, being shortlisted itself was a great achievement and we did receive a “Highly Commended” in our category, so a genuine second place finish here.
On an individual level, our co-director, Dominic McLoughney, placed in the Top 8 (eight!) in the Chartered Financial Planner of the Year category at the Personal Finance Society Personal Finance Awards 2021/22.
Unfortunately, Dom was not shortlisted in the final reckoning, but the team here are certainly proud of his achievement in making it so far! Top 8 in the country! A fantastic achievement and reflects the level of technical excellence that Becketts operates at on a daily basis.
Elsewhere in Becketts team news, our Operations Manager, Andrew sat his final exam for his financial planning Diploma and our youngest planners, Ben and Mark, sat further exams towards attainting their individual Chartered financial planner accreditation – fingers crossed for all! As you can see, our pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement never ends!
